Community involvement being a core value at WNS, we as a company along with several of our associates are active contributors to and participants in a variety of important community activities.
These include:
- Children's welfare and education
- Care for the elderly
- Environmental conservation
In addition, WNS is committed to contributing toward relief for national
and international catastrophes, such as the December 2004
Tsunami disaster, the devastating earthquake in Gujarat in
India and the 9/11-relief fund in the US.
WNS supports these efforts through a variety of measures that include:
- Annual contribution of 1 percent of our profits.
- One day paid leave per associate towards time spent at an accredited program.
- "In Memory" contributions to social causes and recognized institutions
nominated by WNS associates who have lost an immediate
family member
WNS Global Services is proud to be associated with Helpage India, Akanksha
Foundation, Peepal Foundation and Ummeed for the current
year.
Helpage India (www.helpageindia.org) is a national secular, apolitical, non-profit and non-government organization working for the cause and care of disadvantaged older people. Helpage India has been working in the field of healthcare, financial security and emotional support for under privileged senior citizens for more than 25 years. It has numerous projects aimed at improving the quality of life for the elderly.
The Akanksha Foundation (www.akanksha.org)
is a non-profit organization that strives to improve the
lives of less-privileged children, enabling them to maximize
their potential and change their lives. Akanksha primarily
works in the field of education. Over the past 12 years,
Akanksha has expanded from 15 children in 1 center to almost
2,000 children at 40 centers in Mumbai and Pune.
Peepal Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Pune, which focuses on the welfare of under privileged children, working children and senior citizens.
Ummeed is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children
with developmental disabilities such as cerebral palsy, mental
retardation, learning disabilities, autism and attention
deficit disorder. There are more than 35 million children in India with
developmental disabilities - with
more than 650,000 in Mumbai alone. Care for such children
is very limited, and even when it exists, the quality is
variable. Ummeed aspires to provide integrated care for all
children and empower parents.
